The Costelle Family Zine was a project I created as a way to collaborate with my family and connect with them over stories surrounding the place where I grew up. This first “issue”, titled Home, was a small-run, 54-page book featuring stories, photos, poems and more provided by a few close family members.
It was printed on a variety of papers and card stocks with a variety of finishing techniques to produce saddle-stitched inserts, pockets, fold-outs, card-holders, hand-embossments, and a large-format artifacts page.
The main pages were hole-punched and bound between two panels of stained wood with brass Chicago screws holding them together. Additional pieces were variably inserted into the vellum folders on the inside covers, paper-clipped to an interior page, fastened with pronged fasteners, or inserted into cut slots.
